
Supplementary application

Supplementary application is opened when there are available study places in the degree programmes after Joint Application round. Studies begin in autumn semester 2025.
Please note that if you have already accepted an offer of admission from a study programme beginning in autumn semester 2025 in a higher education institution in Finland, you cannot accept another offer of admission in the degree programmes in supplementary application.

The application closes at 3 pm Finnish time, UTC+3, on the last application day.
Degree Programmes in the Supplementary application
You can apply to this Master’s degree programme if you have completed a suitable degree, and have at least two years of work experience in a relevant field after completing the higher education degree.
Suitable degrees are:
- a Bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy, podiatry, sport studies, naprapathy, paramedics, nursing or public health nursing awarded by a university of applied sciences in Finland, or
- a corresponding degree awarded by a higher education institution outside Finland, or
- a corresponding post-secondary level vocational qualification (opistoasteen tutkinto), awarded by a vocational college in Finland (e.g. fysioterapeutti or sairaanhoitaja qualification that was begun before the year 2000, prior to the change in the educational system in Finland)
In addition, good skills in the English language are required. Your language skills are evaluated on the basis of the entrance examination.
Student selection method: Students for this programme are selected on the basis of an online entrance examination (max 100 points). The examination includes two parts.
Invitations to the exam are sent out by email on Fri 8 August.
- Part 1 is a written exam organised on 13 August 2025, 9-12 am (UTC+3) online on Xamk Open Learn environment. The written exam is based on material and measures information processing. More information will be given in the invitation to the exam.
- Part 2 is an interview. Interviews are organised on 21 August 2025, online via Teams application. Eligible applicants with the best points of the written exam, will be invited to the interview.
How to apply
The application form is submitted on Studyinfo. You can find the link to the application form from this website during the application period. The link is also available in the programme details on Studyinfo.
Application period is 4 – 7 August 2025.
Attachments to application are to be uploaded to the application form by 8 August 2025, 12 pm (Finnish time, UTC+3).
When filling in the application form, you need to provide your personal information (Finnish ID code, if available) and details of your qualification (name, year/date of completion, institution). Fill in the application form carefully with correct information, the service guides you in submitting the application. Submit the application for Xamk in good time before the deadline.
The student selection is always conditional until the university of applied sciences has checked all qualification certificates used for applying. The admission may be withdrawn if the certificates are not delivered by a given deadline or if the applicant has given false information on one’s qualifications.
You can make changes to study programmes on the application form only during the application period. You can make changes on your application form through a link in the confirmation email sent to your email address after submitting the application form, or by contacting the Admission Services. If you have online banking codes from a bank in Finland, a Finnish mobile certificate or Finnish electronic ID-card, you can also make changes through My Studyinfo service.
Removing or adding study programmes on the application form cannot be done after the application has closed but updates on other information on the application form are possible.
Eligibility for studies
Master’s Degree Programmes
You can apply to a Master’s degree programme if you have completed
- an appropriate UAS Bachelor’s degree or another appropriate higher education degree and
- at least two years of work experience in a relevant field after completing the higher education degree. As a relevant field is regarded both the field being applied to and the field of the previous higher education degree.
The work experience can be accumulated from the date of award of the higher education degree and obtained no later than 7 August 2025.

Entrance examinations and other student selection methods
In the supplementary application, Xamk organises own entrance examinations or uses other student selection methods. The student selection points are valid only for this application period. Please note that applying to many degree programmes may require taking part in several entry exams or submitting many student selection tasks. Read carefully the degree programmes’ admission criteria on Studyinfo.

Tuition fees
Tuition fees concern students from outside the EU/EEA countries in English-taught degree programmes.
In the Supplementary application, the fee must be paid within 7 days of publishing the results, by the deadline for accepting the offer of admission. The Early Bird scholarship is not available in the Supplementary application.

Individual arrangements
You may request individual arrangements for entrance examinations on particular grounds.
The request for individual arrangements must be submitted by 8 August 2025 12 pm Finnish time (UTC+3).
Xamk uses an electronic application form for individual arrangements (available during the application period).
You are notified of the granted arrangements by email. The announcement on individual arrangements for the entrance exam is exam-specific and valid only in that particular entrance exam.
Requests for individual arrangements sent after the deadline are processed only in acute, exceptional cases. Individual arrangements cannot be granted if the request is submitted too late, with regard to the timetable of the entrance examination, or individual arrangements are otherwise deemed impossible to arrange.
After you have got the final admission results in joint application, you can request adjustment to the decision on individual arrangement as a part of student selection appeal procedure.
Attachments to the request for individual arrangements
Attach to the request a medical or expert opinion, which will tell why and what kind of individual arrangements you need. An official translation of the document into English, Finnish or Swedish is additionally required, if the document is not originally written in one of the mentioned languages.
The issuer must have sufficient professional qualifications to assess your operational limitations and the needs of individual arrangements. For example, due to an injury or illness, a person requesting individual arrangements should attach a medical certificate to the request.
The expert opinion must
- Contain the reason why you need individual arrangements (possible diagnoses and other justifications for requesting support measures)
- Specify what kind of individual arrangements are recommended for you,
- Include your personal data
- Include the name and position of the issuer (profession/expert role), and
- Include a date of issue.
The term of validity of the statements is considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the persistence of injury, illness or learning difficulty. For dyslexia, statements acquired at or after the age of 16 are considered.
Be prepared to present original certificates at the start of the studies if you are admitted. Information on the health of the applicant is confidential (Article 24 of Act on the Openness of Government Activities).
Request for adjustment
According to the legislation in Finland, an applicant has a right to request for adjustment to the decision concerning student selection within 14 days of publishing the results of student admission.
If you believe that there has been a mistake in the student selection and the admission criteria have not been applied correctly, you must first contact admission services at the university of applied sciences where the student admission decision has been made. If the decision was made at Xamk, contact: [email protected].
If this does not clarify the matter, you can make a written request for adjustment to the decision regarding student admission.
A request for adjustment must specify the name and contact information of the person making the request, the decision that the request for adjustment concerns, the points of the decision that adjustment is sought for and the grounds for the request for adjustment. If necessary, supporting documents can be attached to the request.
